Obverse: In the center is the Small State Emblem of the Russian Empire. On the left edge of the coin is the denomination “50 kopecks,” in the middle a floral ornament, and on the right edge the minting year “1896.”
Reverse: Along the left edge around the circumference is the inscription “B.M. Nicholas II Emperor,” and on the right edge “And Autocrat of All Russia.” In the center is a profile portrait of Emperor Nicholas II.
